With the end of 2014, Koreaboo has summarized the some of the numerous events within the past year with a recap timeline!
2014 was an eventful year, filled with exciting events like dating confirmations, marriages, and long awaited comebacks and debuts, as well as worrisome ones, like numerous entertainment lawsuits and unfortunate tragedies.
Among the many new relationships of the year, the first celebrity couple of 2014 was revealed to be actor Lee Seunggi and Girls’ Generation’s Yoona, who both confirmed dating rumors after Dispatch revealed photos of the two spending time together. Not long after, actor Jung Kyungho and Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung were also confirmed to be dating.
In April, the Sewol Ferry tragedy shook the nation, as the capsizing of the ferry led to a large number of deaths, many of whom were high school students. The entertainment industry halted as many in the K-pop industry paid their respects to the tragedy, as music shows and fan meetings were cancelled, and idols lent their help and support to grieving families who lost their loved ones.
Continuing in the Spring, unfortunately, former EXO-M members Kris (Wu Yi Fan) and later in October, Luhan, were revealed to have filed lawsuits against SM Entertainment, both asking for early contract termination.
As the Fall season began, Ladies’ Code fatal car crash left many stunned as EunB’s premature death was announced at the site of the accident. A few days later, RiSe also passed away, following her critical condition after the crash.
In December, Super Junior’s Sungmin married musical actress Kim Sa Eun, both of whom had met on set of their musical “The Three Musketeers” earlier that year. Family and friends of the couple attended the ceremony, and the happy couple left for their honeymoon soon after.
The year of 2014 had its share of ups and downs, but time goes on, and a new year has begun!
