BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, Taeyang and more spotted at Chanel’s Cruise Show in Seoul

On May 4th, renowned French fashion house Chanel brought their much anticipated Resort 2016 Collection to be showcased at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul.

The star-studded event not only saw top celebrities such as the recently retired Gisele Bündchen, Tilda Swinton, Isabelle Huppert and even Kristen Stewart on the front row, but was also filled with top Korean celebrities.

BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon and Taeyang were unsurprising amongst the high-profile guests, dressed in Chanel attire with a twist, having been invited to several of the brand’s fashion shows during Paris Fashion Week in the past. Labelmate CL also made an appearance at the event, heavily adorned in Chanel’s iconic accessories.

With Korean supermodel Soo Joo Park opening and closing Chanel’s Resort 2016 show with creative director Karl Lagerfeld and his godson Hudson Kroenig, it was also one of the most vibrant and colourful shows as of yet.

The new collection is heavily inspired by Korean traditions alongside kaleidoscopic prints and, of course, Chanel’s house flower – the camellia. Several garments can be seen derived from the traditional Hanbok, one as worn on model Ji Hye Park, and the incorporation of large braids in their hair were spotted across the runway.

Lagerfeld also embraced the Korean culture by not only serving Korean cuisine at the exclusive event but also organising a confectionary mini carnival for local children outside of Dongdaemun – in honour of celebrating Children’s Day the following day on May 5th.

Other celebrities who attended the event include G-Dragon’s sister Kwon DamiSuper Junior’s Siwon, Girls’ Generation’s Yoona, f(x)’s KrystalHan Ye Seul, Lee Jong Suk, Park Shin Hye, Jung Ryeo Won, Kwei Lun Mei, Rinko Kikuchi, Namie Amuro and many more.
