The Heartwarming Story Behind These 400 Kimbaps Will Melt Your Heart

Wondering why there are so many absolutely delicious kimbaps on the table in the above photo? Get ready for a beautiful story about a group of Koreans looking to make a big difference in Seoul, one kimbap at a time.

“Gimbap or kimbap is a Korean dish made from steamed white rice (bap) and various other ingredients, rolled in gim (sheets of dried laver seaweed) and served in bite-size slices — Wikipedia

When Mike Kim, a Korean-American, arrived in Seoul and discovered that there were many elderly in Korea who “do not receive sufficient support to enjoy happy and healthy lives” he knew he had to do something.

His grandparents had always told him to help others if he ever decided to go back to Korea, and that’s exactly what he’s doing along with eight others who founded The Korea Legacy Committee.

The group decided that they didn’t want to only done money, but also organize activities that would inspire young people to do good. Here’s where the amazing gimbap volunteer idea was born from, and the reason over 400 kimbaps were handmade and delivered to the elderly this past week!

Check out some of the heartwarming photos of the group making the kimbaps and be sure to follow The Korea Legacy Committe’s Facebook for more info on how to get involved :)
