Most Korean celebrities debut at a young age, as a majority debut by the time they’re 20 years old. However, not all Korean celebrities follow this pattern. Here are a few Korean actors who didn’t follow this, and debuted at a relatively late age.
1. Jung Hae In
Jung Hae In decided to become an actor during his time in the military. After he got discharged, he started taking action to make his dreams a reality. When Jung Hae In turned 26, he made his official debut as an actor.
2. Yoo In Na
Yoo In Na originally had trained to become a K-Pop idol, but ultimately quit when she realized that she couldn’t memorize choreographies. She eventually decided to try out acting and made her debut when she was 28 years old.
3. Sung Hoon
Sung Hoon had originally wanted to become a professional swimmer, but an injury ultimately stopped this. He eventually got interested in acting and made his debut as an actor when he was 26 years old.
4. Jin Ki Joo
Jin Ki Joo worked many jobs before her debut. She eventually got interested in acting and decided to pursue being an actress. She made her debut when she was 26 years old.
5. Ahn Jae Hyun
Ahn Jae Hyun originally debuted as a model but got interested in acting many years later. He would make his acting debut when he was 26 years old.
6. Lee Sung Kyung
Lee Sung Kyung began her career originally as a model. She decided to take on acting many years after her modeling debut. She made her official debut as an actress when she was 24 years old.
7. Park Seo Joon
Park Seo Joon decided to complete his mandatory military service before he debuted an actor. This caused him to debut when he was 23 years old.
8. Min Hyo Rin
Min Hyo Rin had originally trained to become a K-Pop idol, but it ultimately didn’t work out. She then decided to pursue acting and made her debut as an actress when she was 23 years old.
9. Lee Kwang Soo
Lee Kwang Soo decided to complete his military service right after he graduated from high school. Once he got discharged, he then decided to pursue acting. He made his debut as an actor when he was 23 years old.
10. Hwang Jung Eum
Hwang Jung Eum originally debuted as a member of the K-Pop girl group Sugar. After Sugar disbanded, Hwang Jung Eum decided to pursue acting full time. She made her official debut as an actress when she was 22 years old.
Bonus: Jo Jung Suk
Jo Jung Suk technically debuted as an actor when he was 24 years old, as he started as a musical theatre actor. It would be many years before Jo Jung Suk debuted on a K-Drama or film. Jo Jung Suk wouldn’t make his television debut until he was 31 years old.
