Fans Come Up With 13 B-Side K-Pop Tracks That Outperformed The Title Track

B-side tracks can be just as good, if not better, than title tracks!

Sometimes in the K-Pop industry, for various reasons, B-side tracks (songs on an album that aren’t the title track) end up doing better than the title track itself, whether its in music video views, music chart ranks, sales, fan appreciation, or a variety of other measures. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the title track was bad, but it does go to show that it’s important to listen to an artist’s full album rather than just paying attention to their title track, because you never know when you’ll find something you love! Here are 13 instances of a K-Pop artist’s B-side track outperforming the title track.

1. “The Eve” by EXO (compared to “Ko Ko Bop”)

Fans seem to be do dance covers of “The Eve” far more frequently than “Ko Ko Bop”

2. “Hero” by MONSTA X (compared to “Rush)

vs.

“Hero” gained nearly 110 million views, where “Rush” only has about 20 million.

3. “Rainy Season” by MAMAMOO (compared to “Egotistic”)

vs.

“Rainy Season” peaked higher on the iTunes chart in Korea by reaching the #2 place, which “Egotistic” didn’t make.

4. “Love Talk” by WAYV (compared to “Moonwalk”)

vs.

The “Love Talk” music video has about 4 million more views than “Moonwalk”.

5. “Who Are You” by BoA (compared to “Kiss My Lips”)

vs.

“Who Are You” charted so much higher and got so many more views than “Kiss My Lips” that BoA actually switched to promoting the former rather than the later on music shows.

6. “Don’t Flirt” by WINNER (compared to “Color Ring”)

“Don’t Flirt” ended up making more sales than “Color Ring” overall, even without as much promotion.

“No” did pretty well on its own, but the group seemed to get more attention once they started performing “I Like It” on shows as well.

Both songs did very well, but “Love Poem” did overall better than the title track.

It’s more a matter of opinion than anything else, but some fans think that “Teenager” went harder and was more deserving of a title track than “You Are”.
