He first started off his speech by relaying his gratitude to everyone.

First and foremost, thank you. Thank you to all those who loved and supported our movie. Truth be told, I didn’t think I’d receive this award. I want to say to my sunbaes Lee Jung Jae and Hwang Jung Min, as well as the staff, you all worked so hard. Thank you so much.

It was after his gratitude that he mentioned a dear friend of his that is no longer with us on this earth.

I didn’t know if I would win or not, but I did have a small hope. I thought about how if I had the opportunity to stand in front of the microphone today and was able to give thanks to only one person, this is the person that came to mind. Honestly, I didn’t know if I should bring this up during this speech and pondered about it.

It was here that the actor revealed that he wanted to say thank you to his friend, comedian Park Ji Sun who tragically passed away at the end of 2020.

I had a friend who would always check up on me whenever I was filming for a movie. She always asked about my well-being and was always curious about my life. That friend left this earth and went to heaven last year. I have not been able to let her go yet. I know that she is feeling apologetic right now for not being able to ask how I’m feeling about winning this award. I know that my noona is always watching me from above. I will work hard and do my absolute best in my acting endeavors so that she will be proud of me. I wanted to tell her that.
