Aespa’s Karina, Winter, And Ningning Left A Huge Impression On Giselle As Trainees, Here’s Why

Her respect for them instantly skyrocketed.

It isn’t easy to be accepted into SM Entertainment, one of K-Pop’s “Big 4” companies. Trainees can’t just be beautiful, they must first and foremost be talented.

In an interview with “Zach Sang Show,” aespa‘s Giselle reminisced on her trainee days, describing how much respect she had for her fellow groupmates because of how insanely talented they proved themselves to be.

She could still vividly recall their remarkable singing and dancing skills, even at such a young age.

Giselle then shared the story of the first time she witnessed them performing. She was a new trainee when she was handed an iPad that all the other trainees used to upload their practice videos.

As the last member of the group to enter the company, she was able to view the files that Karina, Winter, and Ningning uploaded. She clicked on them and watched in amazement, calling them “very good.”

We had this iPad, and the iPad had videos of us practicing. Basically, it’s only for the trainees, and on my first day there, one of the unnies—the trainers—gave me an iPad, and she was like, ‘Just use this to do your stuff.‘ And I was like, ‘Okay.’

I went to the photo gallery and saw their videos, and I was like, ‘Oh wow. Wow.‘ They were very good.

Turning to Karina, Giselle said, “The one where you dance by yourself.” She could still vividly recall the video where Karina danced solo, impressing with each move.

As for Winter and Ningning, she was left awestruck by their beautiful vocals. She immediately recognized that they had put a ton of effort into each training video.

The members were clearly shy after hearing Giselle’s high praise, but they deserved it!

In the voice memos, there was Ningning and Winter singing. I remember listening to those and thinking, ‘Wow. The amount of effort that goes into training…‘ You can just tell by that video how much she put thought and effort into it.
