Aespa’s Stylist Under Fire After Netizens See NingNing Look Uncomfortable In Her Short Outfit During “Inkigayo”

“The stylists prepare outfits that look good but aren’t appropriate…”

When it comes to being a K-Pop idol, it seems like there are never enough things to worry about when you perform on stage. Aside from showcasing their talent and personality, the K-Pop industry focuses on visuals, so idols always have to look their best.

Recently, aespa‘s stylist has come under fire after netizens called out their inappropriate choice of outfit for youngest member NingNing during an episode of Inkigayo.

And when she’s out and about. Although she is the youngest, NingNing always wows with a sophisticated look that showcases her visuals.

Recently, the group has been promoting their newest tracks, “GIRLS” and “Illusion.” In particular, the title track “GIRLS” has caught the attention of fans for its catchy tune, uptempo beat, and high-energy choreography.

Their performance on Inkigayo was no different as the members truly shined on their last stage for the promotion period.

Yet, one clip on TikTok has gained attention, and it focused on NingNing’s fancam.

During the performance, the idol was wearing a multi-colored tie-dye dress that seemed to be ruched at the sides. Of course, the idol looked amazing in the outfit, and netizens always love seeing NingNing on stage.

Yet, during the stage, netizens noticed that NingNing kept having to pull her dress down because, as she danced, it started to rise up and expose her safety shorts.

On several occasions, aespa’s maknae seemed uncomfortable as she kept having to adjust her dress while performing. In particular, as one of the group’s main vocalists, it would have been very inconvenient to keep adjusting the dress while on stage.

When the clip was posted, netizens in the comments shared their frustration at the styling and the obvious signs that NingNing wasn’t comfortable in the outfit. In particular, one shared that the ruching meant the dress could be made longer but the stylist chose not to utilize the feature.

While one comment explained that she was wearing safety shorts, so it was okay, another reiterated a point made many times in the K-Pop industry. While safety shorts are a thing, they are designed for the comfort of the idol, and the outfits should never be short enough or designed to expose them.

Yet, it isn’t the first time stylists for SM Entertainment artists have come under fire for this reason. In particular, the stylists for Red Velvet had continuously been criticized for putting the members in outfits that are too short and uncomfortable to perform in.

Although idols are meant to look good on stage, netizens believe it should never come at the expense of their comfort and ability to perform. Especially as NingNing is the youngest member, the stylists should’ve been more aware of the outfit choices.
