Bang Si Hyuk Does NOT Want To Be Called “BTS’ Father” – It’s “against his philosophy”

It would seem, at first glance, that anyone should be happy to be called the father of (or indeed to have any relation to) BTS’s spectacular members…

… but Bang Si Hyuk, the CEO of Big Hit Entertainment, does not want to be called the “father of BTS”, and the reason is a fairly noble one.

At a recent press conference for 2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III The Wings Tour, Bang Si Hyuk appeared alongside BTS to discuss the tour.

After addressing BTS’s recent tremendous success in Korea and overseas, Bang Si Hyuk commented on his moniker, which surprised everyone.

“I hope everyone can stop calling me BTS’s Father from now on.”

Bang Si Hyuk went on to state that the nickname goes against his personal philosophy.

“Artists aren’t made by anyone, but as soon as I’m called their father, it makes it sound as though BTS is an object that I somehow made.

It’s against my philosophy and it makes me uncomfortable.”

Bang Si Hyuk explained that he wants people to understand that BTS is its own principal agent.

He then went on to joke that he also doesn’t like being called a father when he’s single!

“I’m still not married. Because people keep calling me some kind of a father, people are beginning to think that I’m actually married. I’m single. If anything, I’m married to music.”
