BTS‘s streak of breaking record after record seems to know no end as member RM just broke another record on Billboard 200! Just last week, RM released his latest solo album, titled “mono.” He had released it free for his fans through various digital-download and streaming services.
In less than three days of chart activity, “mono.” debuted at No. 26 on Billboard 200! Nielson Music announced that “mono.” earned an equivalent of 21,000 album units in its first week. 16,000 of that sum were traditional album sales.
The previous record holder for the highest solo album from a Korean soloist was BTS’s J-Hope. His mixtape, “Hope World”, peaked at No. 38 this past March.
Billboard praised RM’s new album as a representation of him being “more at peace [with] himself despite still having unresolved feelings about the world around him.”
Alongside RM’s phenomenal achievement, EXO‘s Lay also celebrated his solo album “NAMANANA” breaking into the Billboard 200 at No.21!
Billboard also gave nod toward RM’s stellar line of achievements as this isn’t the first time he’s entered the charts as as a soloist. He previously ranked on multiple charts, such as The Bubbling Under Hot 100, Rock-Genre charts, World Albums charts, and World Digital Song Sales chart. He achieved this feat thanks to his mixtape, “R.M.”, as well as his numerous collaborations with legends like Fall Out Boy and Warren G.
Congratulations to RM on another successful feat and those to surely follow!
