Dutch Broadcast Introduces BTS V In a Mocking Way, According To Netizen

“Gay pop?”

A Dutch broadcast has introduced BTS’ V as the most handsome face in the world, but according to a user of an online community, he was introduced in a mocking way.

Just before V, the Dutch actor and musician Michiel Huisman held the position of the most handsome face in the world. Some netizens feel as if this fact had affected the way the Dutch hosts had introduced the BTS member.

Michiel Huisman

When the male host asked who is now in the position of the most handsome face in the world, the woman replied, “I think you might know him. It’s Kim Taehyung (V’s real name).” The male host responded by saying, “I don’t know. Is he a leader of a weird country?”

“Weird country, seriously? lolll” ㅡ Pann User

Then in response, the woman corrected him with the wrong information stating that he is actually the leader of a Korean idol group. In fact, V is not the leader of BTS.

“This country runs a broadcast that introduces people and I guess they don’t even look into them before introducing them” ㅡ Pann User

Moreover, the program had apparently chosen an image of V that was not exactly his most flattering, according to the netizen, despite the fact that he was being introduced as the most handsome face in the world.

“In Western, particularly European culture, men with brightly-colored hair and makeup tend to be made fun of as ‘gay’. But among all those good-looking photos, why did they have to choose a photo of V with brightly-colored hair? lol When you introduce a good-looking person, don’t you usually show a photo he looks good in? I wonder why they had to use that old photo of him among all the numerous good ones.” ㅡ Pann User

The male host then asked another male host if he thought V could replace Michiel Huisman.

“In other words, he means, ‘Do you think [this Asian] can surpass the macho and charismatic celebrity from our country?'” ㅡ Pann User

To top it off, when the other male host gave an introduction to K-Pop, he made a sarcastic remark saying, “Gay pop?” The female host laughed at his joke.

Many other netizens stood together with the online community user’s opinion:

  • “An uncivilized country filled with inferiority tsk tsk their standards lol let’s just ignore this”
  • “Must they be beaten up by ARMYs around the world before they get a hold of themselves…”
  • “No matter how angry they are…it doesn’t change the fact that V is the most handsome face in the world^^”
  • “They still think they’re the center of the world. They must not even be aware of the fact that they’re continuously falling behind and in a state of crisis”
  • “Those uncivilized people, I feel bad for them.”
