Fans Criticize “Girls Planet 999” For Using CLC Yujin’s Pain To Increase Ratings

“How do you go from Yujin crying, zooming in on her bruised toes, then cut to a clip of some trainee twerking in the dorms?”

When the first broadcast of “Girls Planet 999” concluded, fans all around the world took to social media to express their disdain after the episode ended on a cliffhanger with CLC‘s Yujin in tears.

Their complaints mainly have to do with the possibility that Yujin could be the show’s main target of ‘evil editing’ – a practice commonly used in idol survival programs to purposefully paint a contestant in a negative light to viewers.

Concerns mostly began to arise after Mnet aired a shocking teaser last week which mainly focused on trainee Fu Yaning completely dissing Yujin. While the clip was definitely included to add extra shock value to the preview, people were not impressed by the younger girl’s attitude towards her senior.

Then, during the first episode when it finally came to Yujin’s turn to perform, fans were angered by what went down. A mere 10 seconds into Yujin’s song, the scene cut to her crying backstage in order to end the broadcast with suspense.

In addition, fans pointed out that at one point the camera specifically zoomed in on Yujin’s feet, showing off her many bruises and band aids.

People have already been comparing her treatment to former IZ*ONE member Miyawaki Sakura, who had a similar cut (before having her performance shown during the second episode of Produce 48) and was later affected by ‘evil editing’ to drum up ratings.

Fans are hoping that despite a rough start, Yujin will be able to shine as brightly as they know she can!
