When it comes to idols who are truly the epitome of beauty, grace, and talent, ITZY‘s Yuna has always come to the mind of netizens. Since debuting, the idol has always had a youthful and elegant way about her. It also seems as if she can never stop being praised for her visuals and proportions.
It is no different after the group made a comeback with their track “Sneakers.” During the group’s performances…
And appearances to promote the track, Yuna has consistently wowed with her flawless visuals and taken the breath away of netizens worldwide.
Yet, recently, Korean forums have shared some images of the idol accusing Yuna of wearing hip pads during promotions. In particular, they’ve posted images from recent videos and appearances where they claim ITZY’s youngest member is wearing enhancements.
Although some comments criticized the idol, the majority of netizens have come to Yuna’s defense over the allegations.
Many international netizens blamed the idol culture that has been created in Korea, where female idols are always expected to look perfect and fit the standards of beauty.
While Yuna is known for her talent and stage presence, comments pointed out that netizens always seem to focus on female idols’ visuals. Yuna’s always been praised for her figure, and many feel there is a need to continue living up to those expectations.
In particular, netizens brought up past comments pointing out that Yuna has either been described as too skinny or is now criticized for trying to create a different image of herself.
While others explained that she is an adult and should be able to choose how she portrays herself, especially if it gives her confidence. They compared it to others wearing padded bras or wearing items that create an illusion of a certain body type.
Whether Yuna is wearing them or not, and regardless of the reasons, the issues of hip pads and female enhancements have been a topic of discussion in recent years.
In particular, former Blady member Tina revealed that it almost became a norm in K-Pop for female idols to wear pads to create a certain image. In a video, the former idol explained that every time she and her fellow stars were on stage, they’d wear bra pads or hip pads to “basically enhance our bodies.”
We would have bra pads or butt pads. It is a must.
For many, the discussions and comments concerning this topic continue to show the unrealistic expectations netizens have for female idols. It also shines a light on the extreme lengths they will take to ensure they fit this image perceived by the public, which usually ends up in criticism anyway.
