They are off to an impressive start!

Kep1er is off to a great start with an impressive debut, despite a setback in the form of a debut delay.

Originally Kep1er was supposed to debut on December 14 of 2021, but after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19, it was decided that the group’s debut would be delayed to 2022. Now Kep1er has finally debuted, and it is already breaking records!

Kep1er has officially set a new record for girl groups on the Hanteo album chart by becoming the girl group with the highest number of first day album sales, beating the previous record holder, aespa.

Kep1er’s first day sales passed aespa’s record number of 147,195, and currently stand at over 150,000 copies sold.

After the issues regarding their debut, this new record comes as a welcome (and impressive) achievement for the rookie group. Particularly since fans feel that the group has been undermined in other ways before, even including hate targeted at member Huening Bahiyyih, who is the sister of TXT‘s Hueningkai.

But Kep1er’s successful debut has been well earned. Even aespa themselves have taken the time to congratulate the new group, particularly since Kep1er’s Chaehyun personally knows the members of aespa from her days as a trainee at SM Entertainment.

Congratulations to Kep1er on their successful debut and good luck with their future as artists! The members have all already proven they are full of talent, so we can’t wait to see what they do. You can watch their debut song “WA DA DA” below.
