Choi Woo Shik has found it more difficult to choose new projects lately because of the massive success of Parasite. He believes that Parasite opened the doors for increased consumption of Korean films and television shows around the world. Now, he takes global audiences into consideration when choosing roles.

“I think the future is getting more promising for Korean cultural content and I believe ‘Parasite’ has blazed a trail. Korean content has become even more popular due to streaming services, and past works are drawing renewed attention. It has become easier to showcase content to the world, which was unimaginable previously. As for myself, I am now considering how audiences overseas will respond when I decide on a project.

Although he has started taking global audiences into consideration when choosing roles, Choi Woo Shik has also decided to start focusing on projects he thinks he’ll enjoy working on. He said, “I came to the conclusion that I should tame my aspirations and instead focus on the process. I decided to take on projects that I think I can enjoy while filming.”
