Shindong reveals Leeteuk once risked his life to save Kyuhyun’s

Super Junior‘s Shindong revealed why Lee Teuk was perfect to be a leader for Super Junior by referencing what he did for Kyuhyun in their 2007 car accident.

On February 23, Super Junior’s Lee Teuk and Shindong guest starred on KBS’s Happy Together 3, and Shindong revealed how Lee Teuk showed incredible leadership in an urgent situation requiring quick thinking.

Lee Teuk talked about the major car accident that Shindong, Eunhyuk, Kyuhyun and himself were involved in, to which he explained,

“Super Junior was once in a huge car accident a while ago. At the time I think I needed 30 stitches on my forehead and 150 stitches on my hip. I remember when I saw the ambulance arrive and the rescue workers rush to our side to carry me on the stretcher, I told them, ‘I’m ok. Kyuhyun next to me is more hurt.'”

Lee Teuk asked the rescue workers to care for Kyuhyun first.

Shindong elaborated on the story and explained that he and Eunhyuk were less injured, so they tended to Kyuhyun and Lee Teuk while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

“Eunhyuk and I were less injured. Eunhyuk was taking care of Kyuhyun and I was looking after Lee Teuk, but he was bleeding so much. The rescue workers brought the stretchers to take him, but he wanted them to take Kyuhyun first.”

However, this wasn’t the only time Lee Teuk showed exceptional care and love for his fellow members. In 2005, Lee Teuk revealed another story of how he look after Eunhyuk and Donghae during their rookie days.

“In 2005, Eunhyuk, Donghae and I wanted to get soondae soup (Korean blood sausage soup), but we only had 10,000 Won altogether (approximately $9 USD). So I pretended that I already ate and ordered two bowls of soondae soup so that my dongsaengs could eat.”

But Eunhyuk had no idea of the situation so he ordered soda from the server. Since we didn’t have enough, I told Eunhyuk and Donghae to go out first and begged the owner to let this one slide. In the end, she gave us the soda for free.”

Lee Teuk clearly showed the characteristics of a true leader in a distressful situation and a side of compassion for his teammates. He wasn’t chosen as the leader for such a large group for no reason.
