SM Entertainment has announced Red Velvet‘s Wendy suffered an injury prior to the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon, and the group will no longer perform at the event.

In their statement released to fans via LYSN and to the media, they shared the details of her injury.

We are here to deliver some sad news to the fans.

Wendy was injured during the rehearsals for 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon today. She was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, and we will notify fans as soon as we find out the exact diagnosis of her injury.

This means Red Velvet’s performances of “Zimzalabim”, “Umpah Umpah”, and “PSYCHO” have been cancelled. In addition, Wendy was slated to perform Aladdin OST “Speechless” and Frozen 2 OST “Into the Unknown” as part of a girl group vocal special OST stage alongside Oh My Girl‘s Seunghee, GFRIEND‘s Eunha, and MAMAMOO‘s Solar. These stages have also been cancelled.

Finally, the status of fellow member Irene‘s special stage with ASTRO‘s Cha Eunwoo is currently unknown, however many Reveluvs believe this stage will also be cancelled.

While SBS has not released details about how Wendy was injured, fans at the venue waiting for the pre-recording to start have shared that they believe her injury was due to the stage not being fully safe for performing, and she fell off the shaky stage. Fans are saying she fell around 2 meters, however this is not confirmed.
