tvN responded to the reports that the drama will air this December.

After months of speculation whether Song Hye Kyo will join Park Bo Gum in an upcoming new drama series, it appeared she said yes as a staff member reported that the drama, called Boyfriend, will air this December.

“The drama ‘Boyfriend’, starring Song Hey Kyo and Park Bo Gum as the main leads, is confirmed to broadcast in December.”

The drama is set to be produced by Park Shin Woo, who also created Angel Eyes, Don’t Dare To Dream and more.

Boyfriend is a story between a woman who seems to have it all and an average man who has nothing. It will take on the question of whether it is more difficult to forgo your name and birthright or to forgo the common life of an average person. The two characters share the same desire to live the life of another even if it’s just for one day.

Song Hye Kyo’s possible character, Cha Soo Hyun, is a divorced mother who comes from a wealthy family. She was forced into an arranged marriage by her mother, who sacrificed Cha Soo Hyun’s happiness for her husband’s career. However, Cha Soo Hyun’s wealthy husband soon leaves her and their child.

Park Bo Gum’s character, Kim Jin Hyuk, is an average man who works various part-time jobs while applying to various companies. After being rejected by multiple companies, he goes on a trip abroad where he meets a certain woman.

Boyfriend is gaining a lot of attention as it could be Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum’s first drama since Descendants Of The Sun and Love In The Moonlight respectively.

Song Hye Kyo also married Song Joong Ki last October, who also happens to be close friends with Park Bo Gum.

However, tvN made a separate announcement claiming that nothing has been confirmed yet. They are still under discussion whether Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum will feature in the new drama.

“Nothing has been confirmed regarding the production of ‘Boyfriend’. We are still in the discussion stage.”
