Narco-Saints is a K-Drama produced by Netflix, which revolves around the capture of a Korean drug lord living in Suriname. The show is based on a true story.

According to an article in the Suriname Herald, the minister lamented over the show’s depiction of the country, stating that despite the country’s work to distance itself from drugs, the drama may bring harm to the country’s image.

However, the country is on the verge of a crisis of being tainted again with the image due to Netflix’s recent series. I am going to make contact with Korea regarding the issue.

Many Koreans were first exposed to the country only after news of the Netflix series, which is titled Suriname in Korea.

The drama is one of Korea’s most highly anticipated shows, largely in part of its all-star cast of Ha Jung Woo, Park Hae Soo, Hwang Jung Min, Yoo Yeon Seok, and Jo Woo Jin, and revolves around the capture of a druglord living in the country.

This isn’t the first time a Netflix show featured stories of prominent drug lords, as the platform’s hit-series Narcos featured the story of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.
