In light of Jung Joon Young‘s recent scandal and the subsequent gambling controversies of fellow 2 Days & 1 Night cast members, Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Joon Ho, the 12-year-old variety show is faced with the process of being discontinued.
But this isn’t the first time a scandal led to a cast member stepping down from the show. Here are 6 celebrities who left 2 Days & 1 Night due to controversies that received public criticism:
1. Jung Joon Young
Jung Joon Young is currently being charged for filming and sharing illegal footages of women in a group chat. Following reports of his scandal, he announced his exit from the show by stating, “I will leave the shows I’m currently participating in and halt all of my activities.”
2. Cha Tae Hyun
During the process of investigating the contents of Jung Joon Young’s phone, chat logs suggesting that Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Joon Ho participated in golf gambling was revealed, which caused quite the controversy.
Cha Tae Hyun made a public apology the very next day and announced his exit from the popular variety show.
3. Kim Joon Ho
Kim Joon Ho, who appeared to have been involved in golf gambling with fellow member Cha Tae Hyun, will also be leaving the show. Kim Joon Ho was involved in a gambling controversy back in 2009 as well.
4. Lee Soo Geun
Back in 2013, Lee Soo Geun was charged for illegal gambling which led to his exit from the show on November 24 of the same year. On his last show, he said, “My heart will always be with 2 Days & 1 Night.”
5. Kang Ho Dong
Back in 2011, Kang Ho Dong left the show after 4 years due to a tax evasion charge. Despite his consequent acquittal, Kang Ho Dong could no longer be seen on 2 Days & 1 Night.
6. MC Mong
Back in 2010, MC Mong left the show following a controversy surrounding his intentional extraction of a tooth in order to dodge his mandatory military service. He later apologized and received punishment for intentionally delaying his enlistment.
