4 Reasons Why 2016 was the Year of TWICE

From breaking YouTube records to everyone catching the dance craze, 2016 was a big year for TWICE!

Everyone caught TWICE fever with “Cheer Up” and it continued throughout the rest of the year with “TT.” It’s undeniable that these girls dominated the charts and the attention of the general public.

1. TWICE Broke Records Left and Right in 2016

At the beginning of 2016, TWICE released their song, “Cheer Up,” which went on to take Korea by storm. The momentum didn’t die down and they continued to break records with “TT.” “TT” set the record for the fastest K-Pop group music video to reach 10 million views and also for having the most sales for a girl group in one day with their 3rd mini album, TWICEcoaster: Lane 1.

2. Cheer Up and TT were the Dance Crazes of the Year

It seemed like no one could resist dancing to TWICE’s songs. From boy groups to girl groups, everyone covered these dances.

3. TWICE Won Song of the Year

With the popularity of “Cheer Up,” it was no surprise that TWICE ended up winning the award for the “Song of the Year” at both the Melon Music Awards and the Mnet Asian Music Awards.

4. They Have Many Famous Fans

It’s no secret that the cast members of Running Man are huge fans of TWICE. They recently appeared as guests on the show and even taught Song Jihyo the “TT” dance. Recently, Jihyo was even caught on camera dancing along to “TT” at the SBS Entertainment Awards.

With these amazing things happening for TWICE in 2016, it’s hard to imagine what 2017 will hold. But whatever does happen is bound to be great.
