This Is The Most Dangerous Plastic Surgery Procedure That Idols Get

The procedure can be fatal.

It’s no secret that South Korea is considered the plastic surgery capital of the world, with double-eyelid surgeries and nose jobs happening on a regular basis. These come with their own risks like any procedure, but around 2009, a different much riskier surgery started to gain favor and has only risen in popularity since.

The procedure is jaw reduction surgery or orthognathic surgery is a type of facial reconstruction surgery where the pieces of the jaw are literally cut and reattached to create the desired face shape.

Normally the only people to undergo this particular surgery are those who have received major trauma but the V-line jaw beauty standard has made this procedure popular in Korea.

In fact, it isn’t uncommon for someone to undergo double jaw reduction surgery or reveal their transformation on video!

Any and all surgeries that fall in the facial reconstruction surgery are considered to be the most dangerous plastic surgeries, with jaw surgery believed to be the most dangerous of them all.

In reality, they are consistently ranked as either the third or second most dangerous plastic surgery procedures. Only body lifts are always ranked above them!

Among other countries, the jaw surgery has gained a bad name and with a pretty good reason. The area of your upper and lower jaw hold many sensitive nerves and important blood vessels.

Some of the important blood arteries that run through your face including your jaw.

If not done properly it can lead to complications like bleeding, decreased blood supply, damage to teeth, infection, nerve damage, facial numbness, facial paralysis, and even death.

Although death is relatively rare, in 2013, the country reported 14 deaths as a direct result of the surgery. The same year a woman committed suicide and left a note stating the severe nerve damage as a result of the surgery was the reason behind her decision.

To top it off, the surgery also has one of the longest recovery periods. It can take up to 12 weeks for your jaw to heal and 6 months for the swelling to subside. Many people have also reported continued pain and numbness.
