How LE SSERAFIM Started “Becoming A Team” Despite The Late Finalization Of Their Lineup, According To Sakura

Sakura and Chaewon joined just a few months ago.

LE SSERAFIM‘s Sakura recently sat down for an interview with Weverse Magazine. Prior to debuting with “FEARLESS” alongside Chaewon, Yunjin, Garam, Eunchae, and Kazuha, she was a member of HKT48, AKB48, and IZ*ONE.

In fact, news about her signing with HYBE and Source Music was only revealed eight months ago. Both she and Chaewon had to quickly adapt to their new labelmates while preparing for their debut. As a result, it wasn’t strange that LE SSERAFIM did not mesh well together straight away.

It took a long time for us to sync up when we practiced ‘FEARLESS’ since it was our first time together, I guess.

Thankfully, they were able to get used to each other quickly. Once they started learning the choreography for their B-Side track, “Blue Flame,” they were already close.

But after working on lining up our performances for that song so much, ‘Blue Flame’ didn’t take long to practice, and all the details fell into place, even though we hardly had any training for it. And we all said, ‘We’re really becoming a team now!’

Each member took practice time seriously. Sakura, in particular, made sure every move was in place by taking the group’s video and correcting mistakes bit by bit.

I have this huge iPad that we take videos with every day and we play it back and break it down slowly—seriously, second by second—and we work on anything we find where we aren’t matching up, so now my iPad is completely full of—there are just so many videos.

— Sakura

They were able to become closer after only less than a year together as a group. This was reflected in their synchronized performances of both “Fearless” and “Blue Flame.”

Sometimes we watch old videos together and say, ‘We got a lot better.’ I’m almost always in the practice studio when I’m not sleeping, and that makes me feel like it’s all worthwhile.

— Sakura

In Sakura’s own words, she was “really proud” of the group for overcoming the barriers before them.
