NCT Dream’s Renjun Responds To Fan Wanting Double Eyelid Surgery

It was a loaded question that Renjun needed to unpack, “…you may still be unsatisfied about yourself.”

Because of beauty standards and the images that are pushed onto the public, it’s not difficult to feel insecure about yourself if you don’t fit into that same image.

Since many idols and celebrities have double eyelids, it’s only natural that a fan thought of undergoing double eyelid surgery—especially since it’s one of the most common surgeries performed.

Needing a little guidance on whether to go through with it, they asked NCT Dream‘s Renjun for help through his radio show Akdong Seoul.

The first concern Renjun had to address was how the fan viewed themself. He emphasized that while surgery would change their outer appearance, it wouldn’t change how they felt on the inside.

Self-love was crucial, “You need to love yourself, first of all. Furthermore, even if you got double eyelids, you may still be unsatisfied about yourself.

As for whether or not they should go through with the surgery, Renjun couldn’t make the decision for them. He reminded the fan of their freedom to choose. He also noted there were other less permanent ways to change their appearance.

With the right makeup techniques, it could easily give the illusion of double eyelids, “So in relation to this, I think there isn’t a best method. You can undergo surgery, you can do whatever, you can use makeup…there are lots of choices.

Regardless of all the possible decisions and outcomes, there was one thing Renjun stood by. Appreciating their natural beauty and loving themselves was the ultimate way to go, “But, I think the best is to like the way you are now.

When individuals say the grass is always greener on the other side, they’re speaking from experience. People with double eyelids may fit into what’s attractive, according to beauty standards; that doesn’t mean they don’t feel self-conscious about their appearance.

Renjun summed it up best by focusing on the importance of self-love. Depending on the situation, sometimes plastic surgery may even lead to a more profound sense of self-love—especially by erasing traumatic scarring.

In the end, the decision is up to the fan. Listen to Renjun lay out their options while also emphasizing how essential loving what makes you different is.
