Stray Kids’ Bang Chan Shares What It Was Like Covering BTS’s “Dionysus”

Bang Chan gave an honest statement.

At the 2020 KBS Gayo Daechukje (KBS Song Festival), Stray Kids did a cover of BTS‘s “Dionysus”.

In a recent live broadcast, Stray Kids’ Bang Chan spoke about what it was like covering the song.

Stray Kids’ Bang Chan

Bang Chan shared that it was an incredible honor to cover BTS’s song, especially since they’re such big fans of them. However, since they’re such big fans of BTS, they also thought that they had to do really well.

We got the chance to cover BTS sunbaenim‘s ‘Dionysus’, and the fact that we got to cover the song itself was an honor to us. And of course, they are sunbaenim that we have so much respect for. We thought that we really have to do well.

Bang Chan also shared that when they listened to the original song, they were surprised by the number of ad-libs. The Stray Kids members did their best to pay attention to all of them when they did the recording.

When we listened to the original song, ‘oh, it has this ad-lib too’, ‘ahh, this one too’, ‘it has this ad-lib too’. So, I tried my best to pay attention to all of them and did the recording, and the members also did very well.

Despite how tough the recording was, Bang Chan shared that it was fun.

When I listened to the original song, I found out that there are so many ad-libs, and that made me want to do it as perfectly (as similar) as it can be (to the original song). The process itself was fun.

Bang Chan also thanked fans for liking the cover stage.

Also, many of you liked the cover stage. I really want to thank you all for that. It was a great lesson (experience) for us.
